I saw on <a href="http://makerist.de/" target="_blank">makerist.de</a> that they were having a sale which also included the Frau Ava pattern by <a href="http://www.hedinaeht.de/" target="_blank">Hedi näht</a> and since I was thinking about that pattern from the moment it popped up on Instagram I quickly hit the "Buy" button. On Friday night I taped the PDF pattern and on Sunday I made the coatigan. Of course, I wore it to work on Monday.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RvWXU5PyrVQ/WFbHAJrUmAI/AAAAAAAABpI/tEvGuRJ4UNYf824xU-tDkuNmfw3CMXYwACLcB/s1600/ava_1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RvWXU5PyrVQ/WFbHAJrUmAI/AAAAAAAABpI/tEvGuRJ4UNYf824xU-tDkuNmfw3CMXYwACLcB/s1600/ava_1.JPG" /></a></div>
The pattern by <a href="http://hedinaeht.blogspot.de/" target="_blank">Hedi</a>, a German blogger and pattern designer, ist a loose fitting coatigan with wide three quarter sleeves and pockets in the front. It only consists of two pattern pieces, the pockets and the facings. A very quick make indeed.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1TRTp1Ix3AI/WFbHAAYGeVI/AAAAAAAABpQ/racwYc9EMl8ZDeAMOIdJ-MeH6I_XshwjACLcB/s1600/ava_2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1TRTp1Ix3AI/WFbHAAYGeVI/AAAAAAAABpQ/racwYc9EMl8ZDeAMOIdJ-MeH6I_XshwjACLcB/s1600/ava_2.JPG" /></a></div>
The fabric I used, sat in my stash way too long, but it's perfect for the pattern. The wool fabric was one of my first purchases, when I started working for <a href="https://stoffe.de/" target="_blank">stoffe.de</a>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have to apologize for the very bad quality of these pictures, but it started getting dark, when I took them and I had to lighten them up quite a bite.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gp2dUqKXsDU/WFbHAm6csYI/AAAAAAAABpY/Fu1yv43f_uU0cDoeE28CfehF9nIAEHUnACLcB/s1600/frau_ava_back.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gp2dUqKXsDU/WFbHAm6csYI/AAAAAAAABpY/Fu1yv43f_uU0cDoeE28CfehF9nIAEHUnACLcB/s1600/frau_ava_back.JPG" /></a></div>
The coatigan is not as flattering as the <a href="http://shop.crafteln.de/produkt/stadtmantel/" target="_blank">Stadtmantel by Crafteln</a>, but it's comfy.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TbbZia5TafA/WFbHAds0nVI/AAAAAAAABpU/tpXzbr57kf4o0VMnZPXMSZpsJ-R3QSd5gCLcB/s1600/frau_ava_detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TbbZia5TafA/WFbHAds0nVI/AAAAAAAABpU/tpXzbr57kf4o0VMnZPXMSZpsJ-R3QSd5gCLcB/s1600/frau_ava_detail.JPG" /></a></div>
The coatigan has no lining, only a facing around the front. That makes it such a quick make. I already have plans for a second version, but might line that as I plan on using a leopard print furry fabric.

The past weeks I did rarely sit down and sew, because my serger is currently at the repair shop and there seem to be important parts missing that the repairman needs to make it work properly again.<br />
So I only have my "normal" sewing machine at the moment and as I'm so spoiled with the overlocker, I can't stand unfinished seams anymore, so that's why I haven't really been sewing lately.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z62OlB5iNBk/WA0E93jfH5I/AAAAAAAABoE/sXxy2Aegf-0vbOCrPX8-Li61FNt3OLzxQCEw/s1600/tote_bag_full.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z62OlB5iNBk/WA0E93jfH5I/AAAAAAAABoE/sXxy2Aegf-0vbOCrPX8-Li61FNt3OLzxQCEw/s1600/tote_bag_full.JPG" /></a></div>
But this weekend I did and I made a new bag! Bags are rarely on the agenda nowadays, as I mostly sew clothes, but I'm going to Marrakesh on Wednesday and I don't have any bag that is travel friendly in a city where there are supposed to be many pickpockets. So I had to make a bag that closes with a zipper. And make some safe pockets inside the bag, so that I can store everything inside and be organized.<br />
<br />
I knew the perfect size for a travel tote from my former trip to Portugal, where I carried a tote around and it was the perfect size. It just didn't have the safety features.<br />
<br />
The new bag features everything that I consider to be essential safety wise. We'll see if I have to fear any pickpockets at all or if it's just a myth.<br />
<br />
Anyway, here are the details of my new travel tote with safety features.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HGrLKIyoMdU/WA0E9n15NKI/AAAAAAAABoA/D0TXH4-gK14pzAdGkbfInj-T6BXoPPAQwCEw/s1600/tote_bag_closed.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HGrLKIyoMdU/WA0E9n15NKI/AAAAAAAABoA/D0TXH4-gK14pzAdGkbfInj-T6BXoPPAQwCEw/s1600/tote_bag_closed.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
The bag closes with a zipper. Unfortunately I couldn't get a yellow one as I wanted, because my local fabric shop doesn't sell this colour. So I had to get orange. I could have gotten the perfect colour at work, but I was short on time and so I went to the shop on the day I was sewing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Xt4k2KSLaCI/WA0E-XGoDUI/AAAAAAAABog/UChLfyOkUdske5h47lLrMI8bavmpNw85ACEw/s1600/tote_bag_zipper.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Xt4k2KSLaCI/WA0E-XGoDUI/AAAAAAAABog/UChLfyOkUdske5h47lLrMI8bavmpNw85ACEw/s1600/tote_bag_zipper.JPG" /></a></div>
On the inside there are two more pockets. One with a zipper and one that is padded.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-niAsqEOxvVg/WA0E-Isay8I/AAAAAAAABog/KwBptrwQv6Y75VHcootbdTI4Nv_Yv3yUACEw/s1600/tote_bag_inside.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-niAsqEOxvVg/WA0E-Isay8I/AAAAAAAABog/KwBptrwQv6Y75VHcootbdTI4Nv_Yv3yUACEw/s1600/tote_bag_inside.JPG" /></a></div>
Used the same orange zipper for the pocket. It's a 15 cm one and it's a patch pocket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TIMIwpeYciQ/WA0E-MnP2ZI/AAAAAAAABog/zISZEKoBNxMFAF_DQCf3YsQ5FUrsVh3ZgCEw/s1600/tote_bag_pocket.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TIMIwpeYciQ/WA0E-MnP2ZI/AAAAAAAABog/zISZEKoBNxMFAF_DQCf3YsQ5FUrsVh3ZgCEw/s1600/tote_bag_pocket.JPG" /></a></div>
The padded pocket is perfect for electronics or my wallet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xHmiqyCgfsc/WA0E-KpsGSI/AAAAAAAABog/oR-JkgzdJ7U0Qm_zUU6EcGmMFs6O-cbdACEw/s1600/tote_bag_strap.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xHmiqyCgfsc/WA0E-KpsGSI/AAAAAAAABog/oR-JkgzdJ7U0Qm_zUU6EcGmMFs6O-cbdACEw/s1600/tote_bag_strap.JPG" /></a></div>
The straps are 80 cm long and the middle part is padded as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rna0_q0sycY/WA0E9y1A3tI/AAAAAAAABog/jWDLMJXtkCY8z5ywEAoKIvo_3HhKITtygCEw/s1600/tote_bag_detail_bottom.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rna0_q0sycY/WA0E9y1A3tI/AAAAAAAABog/jWDLMJXtkCY8z5ywEAoKIvo_3HhKITtygCEw/s1600/tote_bag_detail_bottom.JPG" /></a></div>
For the bottom I used some sturdy upholstery fabric, which should take wear and tear better than the quilting cotton I used as a main fabric.<br />
<br />
I'm prett happy with my new bag and hope to have an awesome trip to Marrakesh. Maybe I'l even get around sharing some of the travel memories later. I have been busy sewing though in the last couple of months. Maybe I'll share the outcome, maybe it will take me another couple of months until you read something on here again, who knows.<br />
<br />
I've been busy working though too and work opens quite a few interesting possibilities. German blogger Elke from <a href="http://www.ellepuls.com/" target="_blank">Elle Puls</a> was looking for an interview partner for a blog series and invited me to talk a bit about how I got into the professional world of the sewing business. And I was happy to give my thoughts on blogging, sewing and a little insight on how a company in the fabric business operates the whole (social media) world.<br />
<br />
I'm very honored to have been asked. The interview can be read <a href="http://www.ellepuls.com/2016/08/naehblogger/" target="_blank">here</a>. It's in German, though I guess you could make work with Google Translate.<br />
<br />
Anyway, because Elke needed a current picture for the interview, I did a short photo session in the office with one of my colleagues who works as photographer in the company. I really like the result, so I guess I won't be shy and share it on here as well.<br />

Though I'm constantly inspired by my surroundings, blogs and the occassional day of window shopping in the city.<br />
<br />
It's been a while since I've shopped in a "regular" shop. Most of my shopping is done in a charity shop or in the fabric shops either online or offline. Though I also try to keep that as minimal as possible. I orgnaized my stash quite a few weeks ago and was overwhelmed by the choice of fabrics I already got and made the decision to use all of these fabrics in this year at least for one project. So far I've been doing good and only bought additive notions.<br />
<br />
This year I've been to one fleamarket yet, but didn't buy anything. I try to be more decisive in what I buy and find a definite line of style. I find that I often buy second-hand more easily than if I had to pay the retail price. And I'm not sure anymore if that's how I want to consume.<br />
<br />
It my sound weird especially knowing that I work in marketing and my job is to sell to people, my personal ideas about consumption are totally against what I promote as a professional. Though I always tell myself, that at least I' not promoting to buy garments made by underage workers from low wage countries.<br />
<br />
Anyway, sometimes life is just contrary I guess.<br />

<br />
My latest inspiration is all about the seventies. It started with <a href="http://sewontrend.blogspot.de/2015/01/tine-wears-favourite-outfits-of-2014.html" target="_blank">my flares</a> I made two years ago, then this year I got myself some <a href="http://moheda.de/" target="_blank">original Swedish clogs</a> and made my own pattern for a pair of culottes, which I shared on Instagram alreday.<br />

Actually I guess I've always inspired by the Seventies. I have the theory that you fall in love with the decade before your birth decade. And since I was born in the Eighties, I naturally love the Seventies. Simple, isn't it?<br />
I love the shapes of the Seventies fashion, some of the colour palettes like the mustards and oranges and also the patterns. It's great though that nowadays I can also combine the Seventies classics with some more modern shapes and make an interesting mix of old and new.<br />

It's already been a while ago since I was in Bielefeld for the annual Annäherung event. And I totally forgot about the fact, that I took part in an interview series for <a href="http://nahtzugabe5cm.blogspot.de/2016/03/podcast-special-2-annaherung-bielefeld.html#comment-form" target="_blank">a German Podcast</a>.<br />
<br />
Muriel, the blogger of <a href="http://nahtzugabe5cm.blogspot.de/" target="_blank">Nahtzugabe 5 cm</a> (Seam Allowance 5cm), has started the podcast in November 2014 and since then published <a href="http://nahtzugabe5cm.blogspot.de/p/podcast.html" target="_blank">fifteen podcasts</a>. For the event in Bielefeld, the dear <a href="https://chrissysnaehkaestchen.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Chrissy</a> jumped in because Muriel couldn't be there and it was so much fun to talk to Chrissy and totally forget, that the conversation was recorded. Thank you Chrissy, for making it so easy and leading the conversation so professional that I even lost my fear of speaking into a microphone!<br />
<br />
Today I heard the podcast for the first time, as it was published on March 28th and I didn't see the blogpost about the podcast yet. And I'm really happy, that even though I always hated my voice, it's not as bad as I always remembered. Maybe it's not really radio-conform, but at least I don't feel ashamed of it anymore. Well, I guess I should be a little less critical with myself!<br />
<br />
On another note: In the last weeks I had a really busy time, so I rarely got to sit in front of my machine, but I went fabric shopping in an African Wax Print shop in Cologne, visited the Baltic Sea, went to the most important trade fair for handcrafting in Cologne/ Germany and even managed to fit in a weekend with a friend to sew together. This blog has been neglected though and that is a shame, but as this is my very personal blog I'm fine with not posting continously. I manage to update <a href="http://iconosquare.com/tinesews" target="_blank">my Instagram</a> much more frequently, so if you want to know, what's going on in my sewing and partly personal life, check out my feed on Instagram.Sew on Trendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09294458087146858595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700792442009655655.post-75494339394098189372016-02-14T14:10:00.001-08:002016-02-14T14:10:07.709-08:00Tine Thinks: Random Thoughts On Blogging<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is the best picture I can give you, of what's going on in my sewing life at the moment. This weekend I pretty much spent all time sewing. Well apart from the time I spent grocery shopping, apartment cleaning and general chores.<br />
<br />
The only problem. I can't get decent pictures of my makes. I really love what I'm sewing and making at the moment, but somehow I don't get around to take appropriate pictures. I tried yesterday, I really tried and put on some make-up and thought I could make use of the sun outside to get a good lighting on the tripod pictures. But it didn't work. Either the picture was properly lighted but then I was having an akward posture, or the light was bad and I had a good smile on my face.<br />
<br />
I know, you'll be thinking "Well, just ask someone to take a picture of you". But there's a thing. I feel really akward doing that. I don't have a problem to be photographed, I just grew up with an education of "being too full of yourself" when I'd care about how I look on a photo, if my smile was right or if my pose was fun. In my childhood we usually only took photos on a holiday or family trip. I guess that's how everybody pre-digital-camera grew up.<br />
Of course I also experimented a bit with camera, when I was in school. I even went to the photography club after school, but we mainly developed pictures and didn't really do shootings. Somewhen in my teens, I got myself a digital camera and started shooting my sewn garments. But I was always very shy in putting the pictures out there. Well, even more shy telling my family about that. I guess for many people the most regular reader of the blog is their mom. I didn't really tell my mum about the blog in the first months after I started it, because I had the feeling of "being too full of myself".<br />
<br />
Well enough rambling. In my personal life I have a couple of goals for this year, and working on the past is one of my tasks that I gave myself. So I guess, it's good to reflect every now and then. I guess a blog doesn't work without pictures, so I will think about how to get over the past and the judgement of other people on what I do. I like blogging and I like to get inspired by other people's blogs, so I hope to be able to share this year more of what I'm doing too. There's a huge backlog of garments that you didn't get to see yet. There's the Rosari skirt, the parka I made on Annäherung 2016, plenty of skirts, shirt blouses, culottes and bags.<br />

This beautiful ribbon was bought in 2014 when I met <a href="http://thisblogisnotforyou.com/" target="_blank">Charlie</a> in London, stayed with her and we did a bit of Walthhamstow shopping. It adorns the hemline of latest skirt I made. Every January on the third weekend of the month, it's AnNÄHerung - THE sewing weekend for sewing enthusiasts and sewing bloggers in Bielefeld. As tradition dictates, it's also a necessary component of the weekend for me to miss the welcome dinner and arrive late to the introduction.
</div>
In the introduction on Friday evening everyone tells a bit about herself and the plans for the weekend. From skirts, to trenchcoats, childrens clothing and coat projects, everyone has their own goal for two days of sewing that is only interrupted by the occasioal lunch and dinner break.<br />
<br />
For the first time I brought two projects, as I thought that both would be quick. If I hadn't done some things wrong on the first try, they would have both been finished, but since I hadn't marked some things on my fabric and got confused when inserting the zipper on my utility jacket, it took longer than expected.<br />
<br />
So what did I want to sew? I had cut and prepared a utility jacket in black water repellent twill, that I made from a pattern in Burda 07/2000. It's the issue that started my passion for sewing and the issue that I made the most garments of yet. I still have some patterns from the issue, that I'd like to make - maybe even my wedding dress will be from the issue.<br />
<br />
I also brought the Rosari skirt pattern pieces, which I blogged about at the end of last year. I found some suede imitate at a closeby fabric store and had a clear image of the finished skirt in my mind.<br />
<br />
On Friday night I started the jacket, stopped sewing at around midnight because I was a bit tired and on Saturday afternoon I finished it. With some minor problems though, but the great thing about sewing in a group that everytime you sigh someone asks what's wrong and offers you help. Thank you Heidy! I hadn't marked the proper position of the zipper on the jacket front pieces, so I sewed the zipper in at the wrong place first, but then, we found the mistake and I could correct it after some seam ripping.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Basting by hand - that's what I do, when sewing people are around</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I also had to adjust the front when I was at home, because the neckline on the left side was higher than on the right side. I don't like seam ripping and usually I tell myself no one will notice the mistakes, but for this project I was really motivated to make it as perfect as possible.<br />

This is one corner of our sewing room. We also had various ironing boards, but only one mirror, so that's where the chatting took place. I've been to Bielefeld since the sewing weekend started, so it's been my third time and this year I promsed myself to spend more time chatting and not rush through my project. So I tried to chat with the others and get the occasionaly snack after every third seam, which almost worked out.<br />
<br />
I love the atmosphere that the working sewing machines create and the chatter of happy sewing people. It's amazing how this little hobby brings together people and also how much impact the blogosphere has and how it brings together women from all over Germany. Every year I'm so inspired after the weekend that I can't wait to get back to Bielefeld in the next year. Already thinking about ideas for next years project gets my head spinning.<br />
One weekend is not enough so I plan to have some "private" sewing weekends with friends this year too.<br />
<br />
I have to thank the ladys who had the original idea for the weekend and organising the event three years in a row so much. You're great and I hope that we can continue our annual meet up for years to come! Their blogs are in German, but if you want to see what they are up to, check out <a href="http://www.mamamachtsachen.de/" target="_blank">Mamamachtsachen</a>, <a href="https://drehumdiebolzeningenieur.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Drehumdiebolzeningenieur</a> and <a href="http://alle-wuensche-werden-wahr.de/" target="_blank">Alle Wünsche werden wahr</a>. Lately I've been more drawn to knitting than sewing. It all started with the upcoming Holiday season. Last year I gifted my dad a voucher for hand knitted socks. Delivery time up to 48 months. I set myself a personal goal though, to finish them till this years' Christmas.<br />
<br />And so the wool was there, I knew what I wanted to knit, but to get in the groove of knitting I started with something else. A hat. I never really use a pattern for a hat, I knit by intuition. So for this hat I just counted on another one, how many stitches to cast on and then just went for it.<br />
<br />
The wool was a find at my local yarn shop. I'm pretty excited that I don't just have a fabric shop, but also a yarn shop in my neighbourhood. I had a browse there with a friend some weeks ago and this wool stuck into my mind. It's shades of grey but with a little sparkle by a lurex thread running through the wool. I bought two balls, because the shop assistant advised me to. Then I knitted the hat and found out I only needed one ball. Next weekend I went to the shop, returned the unused wool and then got a new colorway of the same quality.<br />
<br />
So my next project is already planned and should keep my hands busy during Christmas.<br />
<br />But I didn't really start this post on rambling about my hat. It should be about the socks for my fahther. Yes, I can already say socks, because I finished the first sock and am already in the finishing stages of the second sock. The wool was also bought at my local yarn shop, but he got to choose a colorway - no sparkling threads, unfortunately. But he chose a nice red, grey and brown <a href="https://www.stoffe.de/schachenmayr-regia-strumpfgarn.html" target="_blank">Regia wool</a>, which makes an interesting striped pattern. And without any intent or knowledge about knitting socks with this wool - the patterns match on both socks. I have no idea, if that is a lucky chance, or if I'm just knitting the right size of socks with the ball of wool. I mean, certainly, if I chose to knit a size 39 instead of a 41 it wouldn't match, I guess. Or does ist? Anybody knitted socks more often than I do?<br /><br />While knitting I found a new love: Podcasts! And audio books. I listened to my first audio book this weekend, which was a cheesy story by Sophie Kinsella and then some really interesting podcasts. A while ago I listened to the German one by <a href="http://nahtzugabe5cm.blogspot.de/p/podcast.html">Nahtzugabe5cm</a> with Sinje as a guest. Today and the last days I found the ones by Elise Blaha of <a href="http://elisejoy.com/podcast" target="_blank">Elise Joy</a>. Through one of her podcasts, I found this article linking to <a href="http://annmarieloves.com/2014/02/26/workspace-wednesday-favorite-podcast-episodes/#.VnbG0U9uJkp" target="_blank">even more podcasts</a>. And then I somehow found <a href="http://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/" target="_blank">this blog by Emily Henderson</a>, whom I didn't know before.<br />
So much inspiration!Sew on Trendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09294458087146858595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700792442009655655.post-50976119243414840682015-11-23T13:18:00.000-08:002015-11-24T07:33:40.075-08:00Tine Loves: Rosari Pattern By Pauline AliceGuys, I just found the perfect pattern for my next skirt I want to make. Usually I don't use PDF patterns - that is if I have to buy them. Paying for them always went out of my head, but I've been searching for a skirt pattern like this for quite a while and when I saw that <a href="http://www.paulinealicepatterns.com/">Pauline Alice</a> released this pattern, I almost immediately purchased it. But then this little voice in my head said " Couldn't you also make it from your basic sloper, wouldn't that be possible?".<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.paulinealicepatterns.com/rosari-skirt">The Rosari Skirt by Pauline Alice</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
And yes, it would totally be possible, BUT I decided to purchase it. Just now. Like within seconds I typed in my credit card information and there it was, the pattern on my laptop and now I only need to buy new ink for the printer, so that I can print this thing. Or maybe I'll print it at work, but shhh, don't tell anyone.<br />
<br />
But anyway, I have the perfect suede in my fabric stash, which I can finally use. Unfortunately it's already quite old, so it's not online anymore, but I will definitely think about making this in denim and another faux leather as well.<br />
So, if you'd like to sew the skirt yourself, why not try one of these fabrics?<br />

I have yet to see, whether the Nubuk is really suitable for a skirt, because it's originally an upholstery fabric, but from the weight I'd guess, that it's right.
I'll keep you posted!<br />
<b>Edit:</b> I had a look at the samples today and had to fiund out that Nubuk is really just suitable for bags and upholstery as it has a very stiff backside. So I'm still on the hunt for a great suede in black or grey. Any ideas for sources? Originally I planned to make a denim dress in this shape, but with two rows of ribbon on the hem and not on the sleeves. But when I was making the dress I had this idea about using the ribbon for the sleeves and than inserting an elastic, so that the sleeves would be gathered. And of course I made this first, without checking whether I had enough ribbon for the hem. And of course I didn't have enough. So here is my denim dress without the hem detail - but I love it anyway. It's so easy to wear and looks especially fine with one of my handmade necklaces.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BHNqd2JWxdU/Vj-kWbu4RqI/AAAAAAAABkM/Mra_CzsAK48/s1600/denim_dress_outfit.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BHNqd2JWxdU/Vj-kWbu4RqI/AAAAAAAABkM/Mra_CzsAK48/s1600/denim_dress_outfit.JPG" /></a></div>
I left the sleeve hems and the hem of the dress raw to give it a pretty casual look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eHkE-Cy-qrQ/Vj-kW21MV9I/AAAAAAAABk0/JPDUAvFMFIY/s1600/denim_dress_sleeves.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eHkE-Cy-qrQ/Vj-kW21MV9I/AAAAAAAABk0/JPDUAvFMFIY/s1600/denim_dress_sleeves.JPG" /></a></div>
The length of the sleeves is about three quarters, which I like at the moment. It's not too short and not too long. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jTDTa0JhkZI/Vj-kXGOfmfI/AAAAAAAABkw/YGDUa3BY2JA/s1600/denim_dress_walk.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jTDTa0JhkZI/Vj-kXGOfmfI/AAAAAAAABkw/YGDUa3BY2JA/s1600/denim_dress_walk.JPG" /></a></div>
I remembered to sew pockets in the sideseams which are really practical and shouldn't be missing on a skirt which is meant to be a casual dress. They are lined with a pretty fabric with a flower print.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The dress makes me happy!<br />

Strangely I did much more difficult bags with different closures and zippers in the begining of my sewing life, than what I'm doing now, when I sew a bag. Lately it's all been about the simple tote or a backpack, which was partly for work and partly for fun.<br />
But yesterday I finally finished the upcycling of a bag I made a while ago and which didn't get any wear, because it was totally impractical.<br />
<br />
See the before here:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N0jzKKDL5hE/Vj-WZt5AtUI/AAAAAAAABjU/Lqag5_6TzU0/s1600/guatemalan_bag_before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N0jzKKDL5hE/Vj-WZt5AtUI/AAAAAAAABjU/Lqag5_6TzU0/s1600/guatemalan_bag_before.JPG" /></a></div>
I made this from a vintage Huipil from Guatemala, which I got for just three Euro at a flea market in Schenefeld. A really cute lady sold it to me and told me how her son brought it from Guatemala. The Huipil had this lovely woven cloth as a yoke and arms and the body of the Huipil was made from handwoven cloth, but it was a very stiff material and when I wore it, it looked totally wrong. So immediately I thought of turning it into a bag and because I didn't want to destroy any of the woven part, which was basically a wide cross, I used the hole for the head as the opening of the bag - bad idea!<br />
<br />
The bag rarely got used, because I just couldn put anything in the bag. The opening was way to small and the shape just off. So two weeks ago I decided to upcycle this bag and used the seam ripper to get the shape of the Huipil yoke again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JPEIRPTdgh4/Vj-WaT4u6iI/AAAAAAAABj4/E4ODydqn2Wg/s1600/guatemalan_bag_ripped_apart.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JPEIRPTdgh4/Vj-WaT4u6iI/AAAAAAAABj4/E4ODydqn2Wg/s1600/guatemalan_bag_ripped_apart.JPG" /></a></div>
I was left with these pieces and started to play around with it until I had the idea to make a backpack from the yoke and use the hole for the head as a detail on the front of the backpack. And I even had a suitable zipper, so that I could make a pocket as a nice detail.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ttbg-q35xHs/Vj-WaMUTWVI/AAAAAAAABj0/p5S5DUTROB4/s1600/guatemalan_bag_refashion.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ttbg-q35xHs/Vj-WaMUTWVI/AAAAAAAABj0/p5S5DUTROB4/s1600/guatemalan_bag_refashion.JPG" /></a></div>
This is the finished result and it's so much more practical than the bag I made before. Sometimes you gotta think twice, before getting on with an idea and sometimes you just need to rip something apart to get a result you love.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZU73PJVAX7Y/Vj-WZkxS5pI/AAAAAAAABjw/1VfiBMC_SFE/s1600/guatemalan_bag_finished.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZU73PJVAX7Y/Vj-WZkxS5pI/AAAAAAAABjw/1VfiBMC_SFE/s1600/guatemalan_bag_finished.JPG" /></a></div>
The bag matches my new denim dress perfectly. I might adjust the flap though, because it tends to gape a bit. I might add a drawstring on the top of the backpack, but am not sure yet. The size is perfect now, because I can carry a lot of books, fabrics or my work stuff in there.<br />

Wow, this weekend has been amazing! I had the chance to visit the <a href="http://meettheblogger.eu/">Meet the Blogger</a> event that is held in Amsterdam and network with new and old to me bloggers from Germany, the Netherlands and different parts of the world.<br />
The event took place in <a href="http://www.hotelcasa400.nl/">Hotel Casa 400</a>, which was closeby to Amstel metrostation, so very convenient to get to from my accomodation.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/12105159_175816592756796_1054145963_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/12105159_175816592756796_1054145963_n.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
On Saturday I liked the keynote of Emma and Elsie from <a href="http://www.abeautifulmess.com/">A Beautiful Mess</a> especially and also had my fangirl moment, when Emma and I had a quick conversation about surfing, when she saw the scrapbooking page I made during the "Crafting with the Messy Box" workshop. So sweet!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/12132700_435529029986913_583018689_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/12132700_435529029986913_583018689_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
But also the other sessions about SEO and the keynote by <a href="http://www.yvestown.com/">Yvestown</a> were very interesting and inspiring. It's amazing to see so many , mostly female, bloggers all sharing their ideas and experiences so openly. Many of the sessions were about how to make your blog more successfull, monetize it and work with brands. For me that's not inetersting as I also blog for work and want to keep my income coming from that work.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ByXPqzhHg7o/VhLADs4uQkI/AAAAAAAABi8/KfW6UU8VYeQ/s1600/yvestown_keynote.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ByXPqzhHg7o/VhLADs4uQkI/AAAAAAAABi8/KfW6UU8VYeQ/s1600/yvestown_keynote.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
When I first started the blog I still had the idea about turning it into a professional one day, but now that I found the perfect job, where I basically do what I love (writing, styling, sewing, networking) I don't need to think about what to do with this blog to grow it. Maybe I'll think about the topic differently in a few years, when I want to work more independetly but at this stage of my life I'm happy and that counts, right?<br />
<br />
So, after an interesting keynote by the <a href="http://urbanjunglebloggers.com/">Urban Jungle Bloggers</a> on Sunday and a presentation on how to make viral content, receiving the not one, not two but three goodiebags, I went into town, browsed through some shops, had a nice take-away hot-dog kebab mix in the Red Light District and went back to my accomodation to get some sleep.<br />
<br />
Today I set up my workplace in a café next to Waterlooplein and just caught up on e-mails and read some articles. Then it was already time to catch the flight to Hamburg.<br />
I will definitely go back to Amsterdam for a proper weekend trip sometime, as I just loved the vibe of the city. And I suppose there is even more to explore, than what I've seen.<br />

<div style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;">
I know, I know, I called this blog Sew on Trend and that's what you expect from the content, but lately I've had some ideas for simple DIYs and thought, why not share them too?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ihaven't been sewing much in the past weeks. Partly because I was on holiday and partly because the weeks before the holiday were quite stressfull and I didn't have a single weekend where I was just chilling at home. But life is slowing down a little right now and so I've been having more time to devote to sewing and crafting. I also need to get started on some christmas presents soon. My dad got a voucher for handmade socks last year and I want to gift him these this year. I only need to get started. I think that's the worst part of knitting, the first two rows, from then on it flows much better.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway, I try to drink more at work and already got a better routine by preparing some infused lemon water each morning and having a jug of it on my holiday. Now that it slowly gets colder, I wanted to have a pretty thermos jug for my tea. My mum had this white thermos jug in her cabinets that she didn't need, so I snatched that and immediately had this idea for a DIY.</div>
So, here is a short introduction in how I did the DIY project.<br />
<table border="0" style="width: 600px;">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td align="center" width="200"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WuMI4caYAf8/Vf6i-5lYdnI/AAAAAAAABiQ/8DiMN3_L__s/s1600/stickers.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WuMI4caYAf8/Vf6i-5lYdnI/AAAAAAAABiQ/8DiMN3_L__s/s1600/stickers.JPG" /></a></td>
<td align="center" width="200"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gr1qtqFNgGs/Vf6jFEYtWdI/AAAAAAAABic/V6gA08TcUn4/s1600/thermos_jug.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gr1qtqFNgGs/Vf6jFEYtWdI/AAAAAAAABic/V6gA08TcUn4/s1600/thermos_jug.JPG" /></a></td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love the fruit and flamingo trend that's been going on in the DIY scene this year and so I wanted to stick some stickers on the jug with these motifs. There are a couple of Etsy sellers, that have these motifs, but somehow I din't want to order a 1 € article from the other side of the world. So I remembered that you can order stickers at Rossmann (a German drugstore chain). They come in defined sizes, but you can cut them easily. So I found some motifs that I liked and got them printed.<br />
Total cost: 4 €</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ojcXJknanh0/Vf6T72-FYJI/AAAAAAAABhQ/CNYLwRTohms/s1600/stickers_cut.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ojcXJknanh0/Vf6T72-FYJI/AAAAAAAABhQ/CNYLwRTohms/s1600/stickers_cut.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Then I cut the motifs with a little bit of a white border. I didn't use all of the stickers, as I had ordered too many watermelons.
</div>
<table border="0" style="width: 600px;">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td align="center" width="200"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hW9mVLfzQhE/Vf6jjOmtzlI/AAAAAAAABik/h4n8YWSE5Mc/s1600/stickers_zoom.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hW9mVLfzQhE/Vf6jjOmtzlI/AAAAAAAABik/h4n8YWSE5Mc/s1600/stickers_zoom.JPG" /></a></td>
<td align="center" width="200"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NkkNSdusrc4/Vf6jpNz6eoI/AAAAAAAABis/s2kKXYqt7oA/s1600/thermos_jug_wip.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NkkNSdusrc4/Vf6jpNz6eoI/AAAAAAAABis/s2kKXYqt7oA/s1600/thermos_jug_wip.JPG" /></a></td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I simply peeled of the paper from the stickers and positioned them on the jug, where I wanted to have them. I made a border of ananas and flamingos on the bottom annd them some watermelons in a unregular pattern.
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xu5T80fgId8/Vf6T9VLuPPI/AAAAAAAABhs/CGIyuJ55tK4/s1600/thermos_jug_finished.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xu5T80fgId8/Vf6T9VLuPPI/AAAAAAAABhs/CGIyuJ55tK4/s1600/thermos_jug_finished.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The finished jug is so cute! It will be a great view on my desk at work and will hopefully motivate me to keep on drinking more water or tea during the day.</div>

<br />
I took a flight from Hamburg to Munich, had some transfer time where I tried the different flavours that the free coffee bar had to offer and then boarded my Air Dolomiti flight to Olbia. Olbia is in the Northeast of Sardinia and one of the biggest cities in Sardinia. One of the few sights that my guidebook told me to visit in Sardinia was the Basilica San Paolo, so I went there after I returned from my sailing trip. It's a pretty impressive building, though it's a little bit hidden in a side street. The inside features some great mosaics and paintings and while I was there, there seemed to be a kind of ceremony going on in one of the side wings.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uo-VxtD02tQ/Vfh76Fasc0I/AAAAAAAABgA/s7eeDFo66r8/s1600/sardinian_flag.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uo-VxtD02tQ/Vfh76Fasc0I/AAAAAAAABgA/s7eeDFo66r8/s1600/sardinian_flag.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Sardinian flag features four heads of moors, though the reason why it features them has different stories. The flag consists of a plain white background, St. Georges Cross and a moor’s head in each quarter.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I stayed in a lovely Bed and Breakfast (host is Beta) that I found on <a href="https://www.airbnb.com/">Airbnb</a>. The location was a bit away from the centre of Olbia, but very well connected by bus and the ticket for a 90 minute bus ticket was only 1 € if you bought the ticket in advance. With one bus line I could easily reach two of the beaches, that the locals of Olbia like to go to. And I had a couple of supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and shops nearby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GbV7-J-KliM/Vfh7zuHcGyI/AAAAAAAABgY/dV4oR9Uo3r8/s1600/la_cinta_sardinia.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GbV7-J-KliM/Vfh7zuHcGyI/AAAAAAAABgY/dV4oR9Uo3r8/s1600/la_cinta_sardinia.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
On one of the days before my sailing trip started I went to visit the beach La Cinta, which is one of the beaches in San Teodoro. It was about a 45 minutes drive by bus from Olbia, but quite cheap (return ticket only 4,50 €) and the beach was beautiful. Lucky me found an abandoned parasol and so I could spent the day in the shade. I was a little burnt from the previous days at the beach, so it was good to give my skin a chance to recover.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is the coast of the Punta Istana beach, which is in the South of Olbia. The water was turquoise and so clear. It was a real pleasure to go swimming there. Also, there were only few tourists and mostly Italian speaking people. Lots of souvenir vendors too, that try to sell you sunglasses, hats, selfie sticks, boxes for your phone or jewellery. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The days in Olbia were very relaxing, probably because of the good breakfast I got at my B&B.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VPFDOptVL0Q/Vfh7yJl5T4I/AAAAAAAABgY/lPm797wRZpM/s1600/confetti_dress.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VPFDOptVL0Q/Vfh7yJl5T4I/AAAAAAAABgY/lPm797wRZpM/s1600/confetti_dress.JPG" /></a></div>
The last day that I spent in Olbia, before returning back to Hamburg, I went out in my favourite summer dress. I made it from fabric that I got at the Maybachufermarkt in Berlin this summer. It's a tad too short for work, so it's been a great pleasure to wear it on holiday.<br />

A kind of spleen that I have is to always visit a supermarket, when I'm on holiday. I love to see what people really eat, not the food you get in a restaurant, but plain old boring everyday-food. And in Italy I have seen a variety of olive oil in the supermarket, which I haven't seen before.<br />

Especially in Sardinia you get the Sardinian bread "<span class="st">pane guttiau", it's made without yeast and very crunchy. You get that on your table before dinner in most restaurants.</span><br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cYBggGcvuso/VfXE9eTIx0I/AAAAAAAABd0/i4pBHNn4LUE/s1600/sardinia_holiday_2015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cYBggGcvuso/VfXE9eTIx0I/AAAAAAAABd0/i4pBHNn4LUE/s1600/sardinia_holiday_2015.JPG" /></a></div>
Once I year I go on holiday for two weeks, usually in September but due to some work circumstances I had to book my holiday for the time of end of August till beginning of September this year. This year I wanted to try something new and see a part of Europe I haven't considered going to before. <br /><br />Due to the recommendation of a colleague and a quick Google picture research, I decided that going on a sailing trip around the Northeast coast of Sardinia would be a perfect mix of a relaxing holiday, as well as getting to know different areas of the island and specially the beautiful area of La Maddalena in the Northeast.<br />
<br />
That was my dream.<br />
<br />
The reality turned out to be a little different.<br />
<br />
Yes, I've been on a boat. No, I didn't sail - when you deduct the half hour that the skipper raised the sails. No, I didn't see the beautiful Maddalena archipel. Yes, I travelled and relaxed so much, that I didn't even know which date it was. No, I didn't swim in a different bay each day. Yes, I got to know interesting personalities.<br /><br />
This holiday was not a all, what I expected, but it was okay-ish. In the next days I will try to share more about the holiday, if you like.Sew on Trendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09294458087146858595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700792442009655655.post-12051773322460099482015-08-10T12:36:00.001-07:002015-08-10T12:45:45.919-07:00Tine Talks: Stoffwechsel 2015 - mein fertiges Top<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q9wwyXpkJyw/Vcj138LgeVI/AAAAAAAABdU/T1p8DitX3EE/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-header.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q9wwyXpkJyw/Vcj138LgeVI/AAAAAAAABdU/T1p8DitX3EE/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-header.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Also, heute nach der Arbeit schnell ins Top gehüpft und ein paar Fotos geschossen, die hoffentlich dem tollen Stoff, den mir meine unbekannte Stoffwechsel-Patin geschickt hat, Würde erweisen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fUMoxMgul94/Vcj13qoVETI/AAAAAAAABdk/1xn5w8TfrEE/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fUMoxMgul94/Vcj13qoVETI/AAAAAAAABdk/1xn5w8TfrEE/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-detail.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-upzPKB9IusE/Vcj147RjjWI/AAAAAAAABdc/RkwqpXGXsNA/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-passe-detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-upzPKB9IusE/Vcj147RjjWI/AAAAAAAABdc/RkwqpXGXsNA/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-passe-detail.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8bxljdmuinQ/Vcj13o97AeI/AAAAAAAABdE/czeCCIBkoEU/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-armausschnitt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8bxljdmuinQ/Vcj13o97AeI/AAAAAAAABdE/czeCCIBkoEU/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-armausschnitt.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fUMoxMgul94/Vcj13qoVETI/AAAAAAAABdk/1xn5w8TfrEE/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fUMoxMgul94/Vcj13qoVETI/AAAAAAAABdk/1xn5w8TfrEE/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-detail.JPG" /></a></div>
Ebenso zufrieden bin ich mit dem Gesamtlook des Tops und habe schon Pläne, wann ich es zum ersten Mal ausführen werden.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x4txfEq9qcU/Vcj14bbGv4I/AAAAAAAABdg/r8iuJflH_0I/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-outfit.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x4txfEq9qcU/Vcj14bbGv4I/AAAAAAAABdg/r8iuJflH_0I/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-outfit.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KHq8Ht97UXo/Vcj14GEdiKI/AAAAAAAABdQ/2Dc35I9IT98/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-outfit-detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KHq8Ht97UXo/Vcj14GEdiKI/AAAAAAAABdQ/2Dc35I9IT98/s1600/stoffwechsel-top-outfit-detail.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Auf jeden Fall vielen Dank an Lotti und Hannah für das Organisieren des Stoffwechsels. <br />
Okay, so I'm not sure. Are sweatpants still on trend? Or am I too late to jump on the bandwagon? I really liked the <a href="http://truebiaspatterns.bigcartel.com/product/hudson-pant">Hudson pants</a> once they came out, but somehow I don't like to buy PDF patterns. I own exactly one and that is the Farbemix Kanga which I bought and then wasn't happy with the fit at all and altered the pattern quite much, so somehow I'm not convinced in buying PDFs if I can find a similar pattern in a magazin or book. <br />
<br />
I have to say I'm pretty good at finding patterns that are similar to patterns from my favourite American designers in old Burda magazines or books I can get at the library.
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Qfm3NzwLWUc/Vb5rtbYePwI/AAAAAAAABcc/QNUXPyxh1Hk/s1600/sweatpants_01.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Qfm3NzwLWUc/Vb5rtbYePwI/AAAAAAAABcc/QNUXPyxh1Hk/s1600/sweatpants_01.JPG" /></a><br />
These sweatpants were made from a pattern that I found in a <a href="http://www.burda.fr/editions-dipa-burda/numero-fait-main_0.html">Fait Main magazin</a>, which is a pattern magazine from France.<br />
It is made by the same publisher as the Burda magazines. I once got the magazine at work, when we distributed these magazines in all the parcels that went out to France. I immediately saw the potential of these pants and then there is also a pattern for cute overalls, so I snatched an issue for myself.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XGVRsgcifeQ/Vb5rtRokyXI/AAAAAAAABb0/vro89D6vMeg/s1600/sweatpants_02.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XGVRsgcifeQ/Vb5rtRokyXI/AAAAAAAABb0/vro89D6vMeg/s1600/sweatpants_02.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
The pants are really comfy ( still wearing them as I type this post).
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-umsfK724E4s/Vb5ruPoTaZI/AAAAAAAABcU/wNK021LXBw4/s1600/sweatpants_back.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-umsfK724E4s/Vb5ruPoTaZI/AAAAAAAABcU/wNK021LXBw4/s1600/sweatpants_back.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Okay, this might not be the best looking bum view, but hey these are sweatpants and they are meant for lounging around and being comfy!
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ULuUX62BPVc/Vb5ruXNvb-I/AAAAAAAABcM/PFEt1i0ejyE/s1600/sweatpants_cuffs_detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ULuUX62BPVc/Vb5ruXNvb-I/AAAAAAAABcM/PFEt1i0ejyE/s1600/sweatpants_cuffs_detail.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
It took a while until I got the cuffs right. First I tried a normal hem, which didn't look good. Then I tried a cuff made of the sweatshirt material, but it wasn't stretchy enough. Then I finally had the idea about using some of the sweatshirt knit cuffs, that I used for the waistband and it worked.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BWz-Rfxdtr4/Vb5ru-7YNeI/AAAAAAAABcQ/K-kC1ojWT00/s1600/sweatpants_pocket_detail.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BWz-Rfxdtr4/Vb5ru-7YNeI/AAAAAAAABcQ/K-kC1ojWT00/s1600/sweatpants_pocket_detail.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
I lined the pockets with a grey cotton fabric, as I didn't have enough from the sweatshirt knit. I got the fabric at Stoff&Stil when they had a sale, I think in the beginning of the year.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm wearing the pants with my favourite khaki T-Shirt ( also made by me) and some Vans, which I once thrifted for 3 €.

I feel inspired, but I don't find the motivation to really sit down in front of my machine, copy a pattern or cut some fabric. But I found quite a joy in trying myself in crochet.<br />
<br />
Two weekends ago I visited a DIY-night and they offered the possibility to make espadrilles, or anything else you wanted to do with the espadrilles soles from Prym. I had made espadrilles before, but back then I used cheap espadrilles where I just cut off the fabric and made my own pattern pieces. The espadrilles soles from Prym are way better though, because they have a rubber sole and probably last longer than the cheap version. And with a price of 8,70 € on Amazon, they aren't that much more expensive than the cheap version from a decor shop.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OCdAWZIBJM0/VbT1pBlveGI/AAAAAAAABbU/Myhi-d_4H3k/s1600/sandal-wip.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OCdAWZIBJM0/VbT1pBlveGI/AAAAAAAABbU/Myhi-d_4H3k/s1600/sandal-wip.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
I finished one sandal already. I was inspired by the Spanish sling back sandals called Avarcas from Menorca. They are made in leather though and I used the crochet technique to form my sandal pieces. I'm really into combining yellow and blue shades and so I chose a really nice mustard yellow and minty blue for my version.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i9FUOvloIPw/VbT1pIOTOTI/AAAAAAAABbM/a8YU1KB_1s0/s1600/sandal-finished.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i9FUOvloIPw/VbT1pIOTOTI/AAAAAAAABbM/a8YU1KB_1s0/s1600/sandal-finished.JPG" /></a></div>
I really can't stop crocheting so maybe I will finish the sandal today and then I'll definitely snap some pictures again.<br />
<br />
Today I also found the time to prewash some fabrics, which were lying around for quite a while already. In my mind I already made the fabrics into garments, so it was definitely time to prewash them , so that I can get started on sewing with them soon.<br />

Three creative ladies organised a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/mach.dir.deinen.sommer.selbst">DIY-Night</a> in their studios in the Theodorhof in Hamburg Bahrenfeld. As the company I work for sponsored the event, I got a ticket and also met up with Ina from <a href="https://www.pattydoo.de/">Pattydoo</a> beforehand to talk and exchange ideas.<br />
<br />
I love to meet other creative people, because it's always so inspiring to meet likeminded women who make their passion for sewing and crafting to a career. I'm still not sure where I'm gonna see myself in the next years, as I have some ideas for work and career opportunities, so it's always great to talk with people who already made it work.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xpa1/t51.2885-15/e15/10665896_653654218102923_450034141_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xpa1/t51.2885-15/e15/10665896_653654218102923_450034141_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
The DIY-Night started at 5 pm and lasted till 1 am. There were different workshops that you could attend. Each of the workshops lasted about one and a half hours and was repeatedly offered through the night. In the evening everybody could make his own schedule and decide what they wanted to work on in the night.<br />
<br />
I chose a espadrilles making workshop, braiding a Paracrod bracelet, screenprinting and origami. As I sew enough on my own already I chose not to attend a sewing workshop, though I would have liked to sew with the Farbenmix fabric kits.<br />
<br />
The espadrilles weren't possible to finish during the workshop, but I got to take home the materials and this weekend I already finished the first sandal. I like that the <a href="http://www.prym-consumer.com/prym/proc/docs/produktdb_de.html?article=975104">Prym soles</a> we were using have a rubber sole and are a bit more sturdy than the soles from the storebought espadrilles I bought for making my espadrilles last year.<br />
<br />
Screenprinting and origami were also fun workshops, as I rarely get to do it. But it totally motivated to try my hands at different creative techniques more often.<br />
<br />
I had lots of fun on the DIY-Night and would love it if there were more of these kind of events!Sew on Trendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09294458087146858595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700792442009655655.post-29649800143251227082015-06-30T14:01:00.004-07:002015-07-02T14:42:38.594-07:00Tine Talks: Stoffwechsel 2015 - der SchnittJetzt, wo alle anderen Näherinnen schon fleißig Ideen teilen, was sie aus ihrem Stoffwechselstoff nähen werden, möchte ich mich natürlich auch einreihen.<br />
<i>Now that all the other sewing ladies from #stoffwechsel are busy posting their ideas for patterns that they want to use with thei Stoffwechsel-fabric, of course I want to be part of the gang. </i><br />
<br />
<i>First I had a definite plan what I wanted to make of the fabric, I'd get from my Stoffwechsel-partner - another Grainlike Scout-like shirt. But then I thought, no, you are not gonna sew the seventh version of this top, but instead you gonna dig in your stash and find another pattern!</i><br />
<br />
Da fiel mir die Tunika 108 aus burda 07/2008 wieder ein. Zwar auch schon oft genäht, aber lange Zeit nun nicht mehr und ideal für den schönen Stoff geeignet.<br />
<i>Tunic 108 from Burda 07/2008 came into my mind. I've sewn it quite a few times, but the last version has been sewn quite of a long time ago and the pattern is ideal for the fabric.</i><br />

<i>I have the idea about doing some piping on the front part to divide the upper part from the bodice and emphasize the shape of the yoke. Now I only have to find matching piping, that matches either the petrol blue or the mustard yellow from the fabric. I didn't find anything suitable at work unfortunately. Buttinette has a piping that looks quite suitable, but I don't want to buy a 2 € piping cord that I have to order with a 4,50 € shipping fee.</i><br />
<i>So, if anyone knows a good source for piping, give me a shout! There ist still some time for sewing though, so maybe I'll get around to Karstadt or a fabric market beforehand.
<i>A week ago I found the leaflet of a parcel in my letterbox and after clarifying with the logistics company, when and where I could receive it, I was very happy to find out that the parcel contained my <a href="http://sewontrend.blogspot.de/2015/05/tine-talks-stoffwechsel-2015-mein.html" target="_blank">Stoffwechsel fabric</a>! </i><br />

<br />
<i>This weekend I wanted to take pretty pictures that recognized the beauty of the fabric, but just as it is you know, I couldn't find my camera anywhere in my flat. Now I hope, that I left it at work, or that I find it somehwere else by chance. </i><br />
<br />
Daher musste ich jetzt leider den schönen Stoff mit meiner Smartphonekamera fotografieren. <br />
<i>Therefore I had to take pictures with my smartphone, which are of a mediocre quality, but better than nothing!</i><br />

Der Stoff, den meine Stoffwechselpartnerin ausgesucht hat, ist wunderschön. Eine ganz tolle Voile-Qualität von <a href="http://www.artgalleryfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Art Gallery Fabrics</a>.
<i>The fabric, that my Stoffwechselpartner has chosen, is super pretty. It's a beautiful voile quality by Art Gallery Fabrics. My partner wrote, that she had a hard time choosing something for me, but I have to say that the work paid off. I love the fabric and immediately had an idea, what I want to make of the meter. Two zippers were also in the parcel, so I'll maybe make a matching skirt as well as the top I'm planning. </i><br />
<br />
Vielen lieben Dank an meine Stoffwechselpartnerin! Ich habe eine Idee, wer du sein könntest, auf jeden Fall weiß ich, dass du Kinder hast, denn der Stoff war in einem Schuhkarton von Kinderschuhen ;-)<br />
<i>Thanks a lot my dear Stoffwechselpartner! I have an idea, whom you could be, I definitely know, that you have children, because the fabrics was in a shoe box of children shoes ;-)</i><br />

Once a year I want to have a nice holiday on a beach, with a bit of sightseeing and general relaxing atmosphere. Then there should always be a city trip to get to know another culture.<br />
And then there are the travel destinations that are led by events, like in this year for example the World Champinoships in Wheelgymnastics 2015.
I didn't just want to attend the event, I also applied for a volunteering position and so I helped on three days for a couple of hours with the event that took place in Lignano Sabbiadoro/Italy.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8dU3YVtst_Q/VYW5QVFEsPI/AAAAAAAABaM/KVS4Q0d_hqQ/s1600/wsg2015_fire_ceremony.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8dU3YVtst_Q/VYW5QVFEsPI/AAAAAAAABaM/KVS4Q0d_hqQ/s1600/wsg2015_fire_ceremony.JPG" /></a></div>
The wheelgymastics competition took place in the same week that the World Sports Games 2015 were held in Lignano. It's a sort of mini Olympic Games just for amateur sportsmen. But it had all the same ceremonys like lighting a fire, an opening ceremony with music and shows and a sports village, where most of the competitions took place.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x5_SiGx67-I/VYW5QFdJ53I/AAAAAAAABaQ/szM8kkdNd-A/s1600/wheelgymnastics_wsg2015_opening_cermeony.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x5_SiGx67-I/VYW5QFdJ53I/AAAAAAAABaQ/szM8kkdNd-A/s1600/wheelgymnastics_wsg2015_opening_cermeony.JPG" /></a></div>
The wheelgymnastics show was very well appreciated by the audience and in the come and try sessions that were held during the week lots of people said, what they saw there animated them to come and try this kind of sport.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sbmVUh_aRJg/VYW5P3221vI/AAAAAAAABaU/z5m3eiA-q1E/s1600/wheelgymnastics_wsg2015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sbmVUh_aRJg/VYW5P3221vI/AAAAAAAABaU/z5m3eiA-q1E/s1600/wheelgymnastics_wsg2015.JPG" /></a></div>
This is the German wheelgymastics team. I'm very proud of one of the gymnasts whom I know from about eight years ago, when he started in my club as a beginner and now eight years later he takes part in a World Championships competition.<br />
<br />
As I had to take days off from work, I also wanted to see Venice which is closeby to Lignano, so on Day Three of the games I said goodbye to my fellow volunteers and went on to see Venice. After a one hour train ride and a short trip by bus, I arrived at my camping ground, where I stayed for two more nights.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fn8_HCa5hyY/VYW5Nc9zroI/AAAAAAAABa4/iHco6B0GqQg/s1600/gondola.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fn8_HCa5hyY/VYW5Nc9zroI/AAAAAAAABa4/iHco6B0GqQg/s1600/gondola.JPG" /></a></div>
I immediately made my way to the old town of Venice and got on the vaporetto to explore the Grand Canal and the centre of Venezia.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oE1qaVkZOWs/VYW5OnSvDII/AAAAAAAABao/JAHBY1vSNFE/s1600/venice2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oE1qaVkZOWs/VYW5OnSvDII/AAAAAAAABao/JAHBY1vSNFE/s1600/venice2.JPG" /></a></div>
I couldn't stop snapping pictures, because Venice is just so pretty.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DvvrvhxKkAI/VYW5PiZZJsI/AAAAAAAABaI/LPsh581tN8M/s1600/venice_rialto.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DvvrvhxKkAI/VYW5PiZZJsI/AAAAAAAABaI/LPsh581tN8M/s1600/venice_rialto.JPG" /></a></div>
I spent some time in the area of the Rialto Bridge and just enjoyed watching other tourists from all over the world.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xnRhHUq_CTo/VYW5PKdqB0I/AAAAAAAABag/kvSL3BszuCk/s1600/venice4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xnRhHUq_CTo/VYW5PKdqB0I/AAAAAAAABag/kvSL3BszuCk/s1600/venice4.JPG" /></a></div>
On my last day in Venice I stopped by the Piazza di San Marco and enjoyed a beautiful view from the tower.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c8yL9eTeA2U/VYW5PGLkgYI/AAAAAAAABac/c2zmYEsJjfo/s1600/venice5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c8yL9eTeA2U/VYW5PGLkgYI/AAAAAAAABac/c2zmYEsJjfo/s1600/venice5.JPG" /></a></div>
I also went into the Basicilia di San Marco, but no pictures are allowed in there.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gFfzuXjrsro/VYW5O1EjVQI/AAAAAAAABak/PwkfiWFPrHc/s1600/venice3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gFfzuXjrsro/VYW5O1EjVQI/AAAAAAAABak/PwkfiWFPrHc/s1600/venice3.JPG" /></a></div>
But this is one of the beautiful mosaics at the entrance of the Basilica.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0bI8htGFHd0/VYW5Nbfu9yI/AAAAAAAABbA/-0MD12OEf6s/s1600/burano.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0bI8htGFHd0/VYW5Nbfu9yI/AAAAAAAABbA/-0MD12OEf6s/s1600/burano.JPG" /></a></div>
I also visited Burano, which I heard of and when I saw it in person, it was so pretty! Unfortunately stupid me forgot to charge the camera before heading to Burano, so I could take only three or four pictures there and then my camera went dead. I definitely have to come back!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l-GAWM-bTdA/VYW5OFRzJ0I/AAAAAAAABZw/GVJjSrTNfFo/s1600/tine_travels_venice.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l-GAWM-bTdA/VYW5OFRzJ0I/AAAAAAAABZw/GVJjSrTNfFo/s1600/tine_travels_venice.JPG" /></a></div>
I was inspired by the gondolieri who wear striped t-shirts or polo shirts and so I wore my denim pinafore dress with a stripey tee. I had a lot of me-made garments with me on this travel.<br />
And of course I also bought some fabric. I stumbled upon the <a href="http://www.gbenevento.it/" target="_blank">shop Benevento</a> when I was just hanging around and of course I had to get a fabric souvenir, though at 35 € for 1,5 m it was definitely on the expensive side.Sew on Trendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09294458087146858595noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700792442009655655.post-78217001041571134382015-05-31T13:21:00.000-07:002015-05-31T13:21:15.487-07:00Tine Sews: Me Made May Day 21 to 31Wow, today has marked the end of May, which means that also Me Made May 2015 is coming to an end. I have to say that I had lots of fun this year and also the documentation of the month went quite well. There has been only one day this month where I didn't wear me-made and that was because I packed too lightly, when I travelled to Berlin and didn't have the perfect outfit on hand. The other days it was quite easy to find something me-made in my wardrobe, because I have more things handmade than bought in my spring/summer wardrobe.<br />
<br />
So, here ist goes - day 21 to 31 of Me Made May 2015.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 21:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11242012_894967293894155_520010467_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11242012_894967293894155_520010467_n.jpg" /></a></div>
This skirt has been in my closet way too long. It was pushed to the back of my closet and only when I started to tidy the skirt and shorts section, I found it again. Wearing it with my new Merchant&Mills for Uniqlo T-Shirt. It should really get worn more often!<br />
<br />
<b>Day 22: </b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11327097_865181980195702_1064744705_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11327097_865181980195702_1064744705_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Travelling to Berlin I decided on a comfy outfit. The blouse is one of my favourites, because it's made of this super pretty cotton-silk fabric that was used in Kate Moss first collection for Topshop. I can also see this blouse tucked into a hight-waisted skirt or worn with shorts in summer.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 23:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11356775_373849482805755_1783144676_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11356775_373849482805755_1783144676_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Okay, so I have to confess - no me-made items on this day, where I explored Berlin and went to the Nähkontor and Maybachufermarkt. But I wore my Merchant&Mills T-Shirt and bought some things for sewing, so I guess that makes up for the lack of me-made clothes. And I wore me-made PJs in the night. I just didn't have the appropriate me-made t-shirt in my travel wardrobe.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 24:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11376408_859961540752253_2070444787_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11376408_859961540752253_2070444787_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Together with my friends I went to see the Karneval der Kulturen (carnival of cultures) in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It was a super hot day, so I could finally wear my Elsie dress out and about.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 25:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11334511_577592715716712_1349096197_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11334511_577592715716712_1349096197_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Travelling back to Hamburg after a very short night. We returned to the flat of my friend at quarter to six in the morning and had to get up at 10, so there was certainly a lack of sleep. Wearing a me-made skirt, which is definitely a favourite among my skirts and I wish we'd have more days of sun, so that I could finally take it out more often.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 26:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11313223_958773784153969_1273133432_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11313223_958773784153969_1273133432_n.jpg" /></a></div>
It was a nice day, but maybe a tad too cold for slip-ons without socks. Anyway I wore this comfortable outfit of me-made T-Shirt and thrifted rayon pants with little dots. I felt great in this outfit.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 27:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11311637_451063671729065_1233235892_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11311637_451063671729065_1233235892_n.jpg" /></a></div>
It's been way colder than it should be at the end of May, so I had to wear tights. This fallish outfit of a me-made denim skirt and a thrifted cashmere sweater was the perfect company for a day at the office.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 28:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11373784_1571226743129692_534927002_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11373784_1571226743129692_534927002_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Being dressed too lightly on the first days of the week, took it's toll and I ended with a sore throat in the morning. Therefore I spent the most of the day in bed and only got out in the evening because I had to run some errands. I wore to pieces that I made my own by embroidering the sweatshirt with a favourite quote from a Frank Turner song and by adding some ribbon on the sideseam of the jeggings.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 29:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11266423_790913844339330_1553043229_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11266423_790913844339330_1553043229_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Feeling much better and enjoying a bit warmer weather, I decided on wearing my heart-print blouse that I made from a vintage pattern and some white denim that I bought in California.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 30:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11374037_879530365452482_1624186072_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11374037_879530365452482_1624186072_n.jpg" /></a></div>
Doing some grocery shopping and errands on a normal saturday, then some cooking and general lazy saturdaay activities. I wore these green printed pants, I already stuffed into the back of my closet, because I didn't like the fit anymore, but with a few pound more I'm having at the moment they fit okay.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 31:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's the final day of Me Made May! Yay, I made it. And to celebrate the day I'm wearing my Elsie dress, which is unfortunately after the wash even shorter than on the day I wore it first. So I guess it's more of a tunic than a dress and I should wear it with tights or leggings at all times. Maybe not at the beach, I think I can get away with the length at the beach.<br />
<br />
So, I guess now it's also time to evaluate what I pledged and what I did in the month. Remember my pledge? I said that, <b>I want to wear especially the garments, I haven't worn that often and
donate the pieces to a charity, if I didn't want to wear them during
May. </b><br />
<b> </b>I actually did wear a lot of garments, that I had forgotten about or that I didn't wear that often, because I thought they wouldn't fit me or other reasons. I'm still a bit hesitant about the second part of my pledge though. I part really badly with my clothes, but I guess in the next days I should really have a look in my closet and clean out the garments that I just don't want to wear anymore and give them to charity.<br />
<br />

This weekend I had the pleasure to travel to Berlin to meet an old friend who lives there. Since today is a bank holiday in Germany I managed to stay for three nights and got to do a lot of my favourite and some new things in the city.<br />
<br />
Berlin and I didn't get along on our first visits, I never really got the spirit of the city. Maybe that's because when I went to Berlin for the first time it was when I was about 16 and it was on a school trip. I didn't really get to see the cool places and I had a first impression of the city being an enourmous building lot.<br />
Now that my friend lives there for about seven years already and I have visited the city a couple of more times, I slowly got to know why the city is loved by so many of its residents. Though I'm still not quite sure if I'd like to live in the city for a longer time.<br />
<br />
What I love about the city is the diversity and the many individual and cheap restaurants. On this stay I even got to experience a night in an electro club, which is the favourite style of music in Berlins' clubbing scene. I was a bit biased, but liked it and my friends and I stayed till the sun had risen again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hQDaa2oBDhg/VWNKdwkbC7I/AAAAAAAABYg/s0q998F8elQ/s1600/berlin_maybachufermarkt_fabrics.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hQDaa2oBDhg/VWNKdwkbC7I/AAAAAAAABYg/s0q998F8elQ/s1600/berlin_maybachufermarkt_fabrics.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Another thing I always do, when I'm in town, is hitting the Maybachufermarkt, which offers some fabric stalls and you can get really nice things for only up to 5 € the meter.<br />
This time I also made my way to Prenzlauer Berg/Friederichshain to visit the <a href="http://www.naehkontor.de/shop/" target="_blank">Nähkontor</a>. I met <a href="http://ninusch.blogspot.de/" target="_blank">Nina</a>, one of the founders, on the sewing weekends of Annäherung in Bielefeld and always planned to visit her shop one time and this time I did. The shop is really cute and easy to reach. The interior and some of the assortment is from an old haberdashery shop and Nina and her partner added some current fabrics and notions and also offer sewing classes. You should really go there, if you want to have a really cool shopping experience.<br />
<br />
Of course I couldn't leave the Maybachufermarkt and the Nähkontor without buying something. Here you can see, what I got:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HuC-2DIyT0w/VWNKc8sQwVI/AAAAAAAABYY/kijddW1Qfp4/s1600/berlin_may_buys1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HuC-2DIyT0w/VWNKc8sQwVI/AAAAAAAABYY/kijddW1Qfp4/s1600/berlin_may_buys1.JPG" /></a></div>
I plan to make a pair of shorts for my upcoming holiday to Venice in June and already have the fabric, that I want to use, but I wanted to have a <a href="http://www.naehkontor.de/shop/20mm-schragband-in-neon" target="_blank">neon pink bias tape</a> for binding the edges. I couldn't get it locally, so I was very happy to find it in the Nähkontor and also found a matching cord, which I will use for the drawstring waist of the shorts.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K1XB2-bstN8/VWNKdUbtOQI/AAAAAAAABYc/YMeLt2VBIRs/s1600/berlin_may_buys2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K1XB2-bstN8/VWNKdUbtOQI/AAAAAAAABYc/YMeLt2VBIRs/s1600/berlin_may_buys2.JPG" /></a></div>
At the Nähkontor I also got two pieces of quilting cotton. One is <a href="http://www.naehkontor.de/shop/baumwollstoff-geekly-chic" target="_blank">printed with cameras</a> and one has <a href="http://www.naehkontor.de/shop/baumwollstoff-sew-retro" target="_blank">bits and bobs of haberdashery </a>and sewing accessories printed in vivid colours. I lately did a sewing tutorial for a small pouch at work and plan to make some pouches from these fabrics. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o7ig_LVZ8pA/VWNKc9PWV5I/AAAAAAAABY0/hZ-vz8w0NEA/s1600/berlin_may_buys.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o7ig_LVZ8pA/VWNKc9PWV5I/AAAAAAAABY0/hZ-vz8w0NEA/s1600/berlin_may_buys.JPG" /></a></div>
At the Maybachufermarkt I found two amazing rayon fabrics for only 3 € the meter. It was hard to decide which fabrics to take, because they had lots of pretty ones. In the end I decided on this confetti print and a floral print. I got 4 m of the confetti print, so I hope to be able to make a small summer collection of skirt, top and dress of the fabric. The floral print was also available in two other colorways and would have liked to get half a meter of each, but the minimum was 1 m and so I decided to get the blue one. I have few blue things in my closet, so that will be a nice addidtion.<br />I also got 4 m of zipper band in yellow and some pins, because I tend to bend my pins at home.<br />
<br />
Have you already visited Berlin? Did you get to go fabric shopping? Constanze from Nahtzugabe has written <a href="http://nahtzugabe.blogspot.de/p/stoffkauf-in-berlin.html" target="_blank">a couple of good posts about fabric shopping in Berlin</a>.<br />

I almost always managed to take the pictures in the morning before leaving for work, but for two days, I had to cheat and took the picture later.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 11:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11240415_1475409862750023_560865353_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11240415_1475409862750023_560865353_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Going to work again, after a lovely weekend with my family. I was a bit chilly, so I chose a me-made corduroy skirt with heart-printed tights and a grey cashmere short sleeved knit top. The skirt is really niceely made and I love the colour. <i>Note to myself: Make a similar skirt for summer in a summery fabric!</i><br />
<br />
<b>Day 12:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11256252_982891521743392_161541768_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11256252_982891521743392_161541768_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
I'm repeating an outfit that I wore for last years Me Made May. The blouse is made by me, but really old. I think I must have made it in 2008 or so. I still love the fabric and the cut of it. I should use the pattern again this year.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 13:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11230373_1444249662538696_705336608_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11230373_1444249662538696_705336608_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
Both, jeans and T-Shirt, were made by me and are much loved. The fabric of the jeans, was a purchase at the Dutch fabric market. I still have about 30 cm of the fabric left and think of making shorts or a skirt combining the fabric with a black jeans left-over. The T-Shirt is my favourite at the moment, love the olive green.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 14:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xpa1/t51.2885-15/e15/10354526_1606070729610373_1084890909_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xpa1/t51.2885-15/e15/10354526_1606070729610373_1084890909_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
A public holiday in Germany again, so I wore my leggings and a T-Shirt for a day of cleaning my apartment and sewing a bit.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 15:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11260423_498511890303096_904664938_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11260423_498511890303096_904664938_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
A chiffon blouse with RTW jeans. This is what I wore for half of the day, before changing into a company T-Shirt for the rest of the day to attend a Cosplay event in Hamburg as a representative of our company.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 16:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11257815_1583912761879662_155452145_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11257815_1583912761879662_155452145_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
It's been rag curl time! And a nice outfit of me-made jeans and a 3/4 sleeve shirt made of the softest jersey ever, so comfortable.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 17:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11254486_830781837001116_805169935_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11254486_830781837001116_805169935_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
It was a rainy day on a weekend, so I stayed in for the whole day and had to add a sweater and leggings later because it was really chilly.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 18:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11266380_731473533628078_996595452_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11266380_731473533628078_996595452_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
My new version of self-drafted culottes inspired by Megan Nielsen and a raglansleeve T-Shirt. Are you tired of seeing this pattern again? I'm not!<br />
<br />
<b>Day 19:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11328495_1583048051958668_1062821490_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/11328495_1583048051958668_1062821490_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
I just finished the shirt the evening before and had to wear it with my favourite flared black jeans. I like the shirt, though I imagined it to be a bit more of a relaced fit. Oh, and I should really learn how to do an FBA, because there is some gaping on the front, if I close all the buttons.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 20:</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11312060_420816628098132_112053499_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/e15/11312060_420816628098132_112053499_n.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
Wearing another new make that I just made on the weekend before. It's a simple rayon dress, with a little bit of an A-line. I like the colour and it's really nice to accessorize.<br />
<br />
