Ketchup and mustard for me please

Cardigan: C&A
Shirt: C&A
Skirt: me-made
Tights: C&A
Boots: TK Maxx
I'm so happy that I didn't give up on the skirt. Now it's one of my favourite basic items. I like it even better than a simple black skirt because it is more interesting and fun to combine with other items. I found a fabric on stoffe.de which comes very close to the fabric that I used. You can find it here.

Inspired by The Clothes Horse

I always liked the two-tone cardigan that Rebecca of The Clothes Horse wears quite frequently. On one of my virtual window shopping tours on stoffe.de I found this great knit in different colours which I think will make a cosy fall cardigan. I haven't decided yet on the other fabrics I want to get with those and hope that it won't have sold out when I have finally made my decision.

I like folk culture

Jean Mini Skirt Navajo Pencil Skirt
Vero Moda Navajo Sequin Mini Skirt
deep navi mini skirt  vero moda Navajo dress Textiles of Central America by Angela Thompson

For this fall winter I'm especially drawn to prints from Central and North America. I already have two gorgeous bags made in Guatemala on a backloom and now I found this interesting print in the fabric store. It adapts the traditional Navajo woven fabrics and will look great as a simple mini skirt.
Fabric from stoffe-zanderino.de
It's a mix of Polyester and Elasthan and quite thick so it should be great for fall with black tights and boots.

My first Sorbetto

Top: me-made (Sorbetto)
Cardigan: me-made (selft drafted pattern)
Jeans: store bought
Shoes: Fleamarket (Gabor)
This is my first Sorbetto which I made 2 or 3 months ago. I got the fabric from Karstadt in Hamburg, it was a remnant piece of 1 m. It's 100% Silk and was a bit tricky to sew. I used French Seams everywhere because I thought that a overlock edge would be too stiff for the thin material. The old machine from my mother that I used wasn't very cooperative and so I had to put it aside for a while until I got to my machine where the fabric didn't cause any problems. Due to the print you can hardly see the pleat in the front but it's a cute detail. I already have some fabric in mind that I want to use for my next Sorbetto.
The cardigan was also made a couple of months ago.I took a well fitting pattern from a dress for the bodice and the sleeves and drafted the front panel from that. This was the first version and in the second one I enlarged the front to give it more drape. The seams were all done on my serger.

My idea of a perfectly fitting pair of trousers

It is hard to find a good fitting pair of trousers in the store. Luckily I found a pattern from Burda that has a perfect fit on me. I already made it in my "skinny years" and it fit well. Now with a little bit more of all year holiday pounds I made a new version of the trousers and am quite pleased that the fit is good as well. So it is true that Burda makes a good fitting pair, it is just hard to find a modern pattern in size 46. Most of the trendy garments only go up to size 44 and I'm not sure if the fit will be good as well when I grade it myself.
Anyway, here are the trousers on the model. The pattern can be found in Burda 12/2006 pattern 121.

I really like the 70s feeling that the styling with the hat and the pussy bow blouse. In the magazine it also features flaps on the pockets but I omitted them in my pair because that would put to much attention to my hips and I don't want that.
The construction goes fairly well, I only read through the construction details breifly and than try to remember how I did the steps on the last pair of trousers.
I added 10 cm in the length because I wanted to be able to wear the garment with heels. Since the inside looks decent as well, I can wear it also with normal shoes and then just turn up the hem.

Here you can find an interesting article on burdastyle.com about wide leg trousers and how to style them.
Since my pair is made from a checked fabric I don't have that many possibilities to style it without looking strange.

Therefore I already have plans to make another one, possibly out of corduroy or jeans.
The fabric that I used is a wool that I got at the outlet of Stoffe Zanders in Mönchengladbach. In the front I managed to adjust the checks but I didn't have enough fabric to match them in the back as well.
You can see that the stripes are slightly different in the back. But I'm fine with that since I believe that 90 % of the people on the street don't stare at your butt and realise this.

You look like a gypsy

Blouse: me-made (Burda 1/2008 mod. 122)
Vest: thrifted
Trousers: me-altered ( from straight to skinny)
Boots: Deichmann

I just had to wear a sparkly vest for two days in a row, I just felt great in the one yesterday and couldn't resist in getting this one out today. The blouse is the first version of the oh so popular pattern which I made about 5 times already. I also like to call it my Rodger Hodgson blouse because it's similar to what he wears on stage. Btw I love the music of the 70s especially groups like Supetramp, check out this . I was fortunate enough to see him live some years ago and since then I'm a big fan.
Coming back to the blouse... This one was cut without any alterations and I think that it's a bit short on me so for some of the other versions I added about 10 cm to the length. I also add about 10cm to Burda pants, since they are made for 168 cm body height and I'm a little taller.
I haven't shown you my newest fabric acquisitions yet. These are the fabrics I got at Oxfam.

They are both cotton, the red one is just 40 cm so I'll only be able to make a tote and for the african print I imagine a skirt but haven't decided on the pattern yet.
Do you knit as well ? My progress on the cardigan which  I started about a year ago is still slow but I might finish it this year and wear it on New Years Eve. Brigitte has a contest going on where you can win several packages of wool. You can find the contest here.

Black on black

Blouse: thrifted (Esprit)
Vest: thifted
Skirt: me-made
Scarf: Marshalls (Boston)
Boots: Deichmann

This week I wore every day a me-made garment but I didn't get to take pictures. Maybe I'll repeat what I wore next week and show it to you. Here I wear one of the garments from my Fall Wishlist, the black maxi skirt. I made it without a pattern it is just a simple trapezium and two rectangles that I gathered and sewed on the hem of the trapezium. Anyone can make this skirt it's so simple. I even sewed it with my normal machine because the knife of the serger didn't work.
So far I haven't made much of my wish list and I think I need to continue it as a winter wish list. My rule of not buying any new fabric was broken some days ago when I got some jersey a Karstadt and then we were selling pieces at Oxfam too and of course I had to get some as well. Now I'm looking forward to December when I'll be at my studio again. Until then I have to make do with the things I made so far.
Today is Wednesday which means Me-made-Mittwoch is on. Find the other girls here and the blog of Catherine who keeps everything together here.

Check ? Checked !

Dress: me-made ( originally pattern for a blouse from Burda Mod. 122 1/2008 )
Tights: Tchibo
Boots: Deichmann

I'm getting into the groove of taking pictures again and I think my Gimp skills are improving as well. This dress is a very old one, I think I made it about 2 years ago. It still fits, though it's a little tight in the cuff area. The fabric is the same as the top I blogged about recently.

These shoes are made of...

Blouse: me-made ( Sabrina Woman Modemagazin 3/2011 Modell 9 )
Jeans. thrifted Oxfam ( H&M)
Boots: 3 years old from Siemes

This blouse is the first item that I made from this pattern magazine. It was the first issue that I got and I am quite pleased I have to say. I always thought that the patterns in there wouldn't really be fashionable but now I think differently. This pattern is originally made for a knit but I just cut out the largest size and sewed french seams. For the front I added 5 cm in the middle fold and in the back about 2 cm, as much as the fabric width allowed. Because I wanted to wear the blouse today therefore I wore it with the Lanvin-style hem, but during the day the fraying started to become worse and so I really need to fix the hem with some bias tape before I wear it again or put in in the washing machine.

The fabric is from my haul when I was in Berlin and met up with Katarina. Since fun prints are en vogue again I thought that this makes a nice fall item.
Today was me-made Mittwoch again and therefore I have to say goodbye to take a look at what the other gals did. Catherine shows a skirt today that is similar to my panel skirt.

Check my checked new top

Top: me-made ( Burda  mod. 108  7/2008)
Jeans: thrifted at Oxfam (H&M)

Sometimes you just need a tee and jeans to feel comfortable. I chose this new top for a day which was mostly spend at home. After a night out celebrating Halloween I woke up at half past 2 and used the rest of the day to tidy up my flat and research some university stuff. For Halloween I went as a Zombie-Vampire-style to a party where only 10 % of the people were dressed up. It's just not that popular in Germany to dress up for the occasion, most people dress up only during Carneval. I like to dress up whenever I have the occasion though.
